From Mackay on Monday 16 March, through to Nambour on Thursday the 19th and Bracken Ridge on Friday the 20th, we want to showcase how robotic and collaborative automation is being used right now in Aussie workshops. Live demonstrations will cover robotic welding, cobots, and broader automation applications all designed with real shop-floor environments in mind.

Why More Workshops Are Turning to Automated Welding

Automated welding isn’t about replacing skilled welders. It’s about backing them up. By taking on repetitive, time-consuming welds, automation helps improve consistency, reduce rework, and free experienced tradespeople to focus on higher-value tasks. For many businesses, it’s also a practical way to increase capacity without increasing headcount.

Across the country, fabrication and manufacturing businesses are under increasing pressure to do more with less. Skilled labour shortages, rising costs, tighter delivery schedules, and higher expectations around quality and safety are forcing many workshops to rethink how welding gets done. That’s where automated and robotic welding is starting to make a real difference.

One of the biggest misconceptions is that robotics are only suited to large factories. In reality, modern welding automation systems are far more accessible, flexible, and user-friendly than they were even a few years ago. Compact footprints, intuitive programming, and fast changeovers mean they can slot into small and medium workshops just as easily as larger operations.

If you’re curious about what automated welding actually looks like on the shop floor, as well as how it could work for your operation, this Roadshow is a great place to start.

All the Details

The Roadshow is running hot along its Queensland leg in Nambour, with live demonstrations designed to show how robotic welding works in real-world conditions.

Mackay
📅 Thursday, 19 March 2026 from 9am until 12 midday
📍 TAFE Queensland Nambour Campus Burnside, QLD

At each stop, attendees will be able to watch a live welding automation demonstration and talk directly with the guys and gals running it. The focus is on practical outcomes. That means productivity, weld quality, safety, and ease of use rather than talking theory or sales pitches.

Whether you’re a welder, operator, supervisor, business owner, or operations manager it’s a chance to see how automation could support your team and fit into your existing workflow.

More Queensland Stops

Can’t make Nambour? You may have heard, the Roadshow has a few places on our showcase:

  • Monday, 16 March in Mackay
  • Friday, 20 March in Bracken Ridge

Each location will feature the same hands-on demonstrations, along with plenty of time for informal conversations, questions, and networking with others in the industry who are also exploring automation.

Why Attend?

  • See the technology in action. Watching a robot weld tells you far more than any brochure ever could.
  • Get practical answers. Talk through the benefits, limitations, and real-world considerations with people who work with this technology every day.
  • Learn at your own pace. Whether you’re actively planning an upgrade or just gathering information for the future, you’ll walk away better informed.
  • Connect with mates. Hear how other Queensland fabricators are thinking about automation and workforce challenges.

Automated welding is no longer a “someday” technology. For many Australian workshops, it’s just another practical tool helping them stay competitive. The Weld Australia Roadshow offers a low-pressure way to see what’s possible and decide what the next step might look like for your business.

There’s free parking and it costs nothing to come along. If you’re ready to see how automated welding could change the way you work, this is a great place to start. Click here to register.
